Successful additional service for international student of Pentagram Chinese Language Institute (PLCI)

------ A Student from Japan studying in Beijing University

Basic situation

The student is studying in History Department of Beijing University after preparation course, his HSK level is 7.

First semester:  Registered credits: 14

              Gained credits: 0

Diagnosis:

1. Because school began late, class hours are not enough. It’s difficult for the student to follow the teaching process.

2. As a freshman, having no idea about the points of choosing courses, the student just considered the contents and credits of major courses while neglected the difficulties to finish it.

3. The student was not accustomed to the exam form of the courses he chose. Close-book exam is difficult, relative to his Chinese level and Characters writing skill.

Second semester:  Registered credits: 19

Gained credits: 15

Comparison between the two semesters:

Before choosing courses, professional course planning teachers of PCLI researched each professors, teaching process and exam form of the History Department of Beijing University. The plan tailor to student they made as below:

In the second semester, our teacher helped the student chose more literary and sport classes that he interested in. Those courses balanced the student’s study condition, not only helped him gained enough credits but also made the student study easily. We paid more attention to the exam forms of the courses when chose, especially, open-book exam and essay. By PCLI’s successful planning, the student’s study effectiveness was increased obviously, from that he got more confidence in study. Compare with the first semester’s 0 credit, he got 15 credits in the second semester which achieved 80% of his expectation.
